Tāmaki Makaurau quartet Northern Skies Project comes to Cuba St Tavern's garden courtyard for the Wellington Jazz Festival, bringing the sounds and landscapes of Northern Europe with them.
Inspired by the music of ECM, Jakob Bro and Ella Zirina, the group moves through spacious, meditative grooves that reflect the fjords, clear waters and icy forests of Scandinavia. Bassist Claude Wedde brings together pieces from some of the North's newest talents alongside his own compositions inspired by time spent travelling through Northern Europe.
Joined by David Fromont on trombone, Bill Liu on guitar and Minho Choi on drums, Northern Skies Project brings together young jazz talent from the Northern and Southern hemispheres for one night at the Tav.
