The formidable powerhouse duo COMMUNICATE are bringing their clubnight, XCOMMUNICATE, back to Cuba St Tavern in September.
Known for their long sets that incorporate decades of sound, Cyril Orson and Heylady have been punishing dance floors across Aotearoa since they joined forces almost 4 years ago. Since the last XCOMMUNICATE at the Tavern in November, they have launched their label, XCOMMUNICATE RECORDS, with two EPs now out in the wild and more time being spent in the studio writing new music and collaborating with other NZ artists, the project is proving to e a success. They've played sets at R&A, Electric Avenue, CubaDupa, Arkadien, The Mothership and more. With no plans to stop this train any time soon, they are pulling up at Cuba St Tavern on September 12 for another journey through sound
Usually XCOMMUNICATE is a six hour adventure through decades and sonic realms, however as Heylady is still recovering from burnout they’ve roped in two of their good friends, both amazingly talented; Jen Kyle and Hape, to join them.
Jen Kyle grew up on a steady diet of killer music in Scotland. Exposed to the gritty, raw nightlife Glasgow had to offer, she developed a taste for quality sound across genres. You’re just as likely to hear acid lines as you are dope disco, organized and honed into a melting pot of goodness by a critically good ear.
Hape has been rolling dancefoors since the late 90s. He's played sets around the country and had residencies at some of Auckland and Wellington's most well known establishments. Known for his soulful, energetic sound, layered with hints of progressive and always a cheeky vocal, a Hape set never fails to make you dance.
On top of all this, we'll have a lushed-out environment with added lighting care of the amazing Lighterxx.
We recommend arriving early so you don't miss any of the show.
